Podcast myths proven wrong: part 1

Podcasts are an ever-growing content medium, with Edison reporting 30% of British adults are weekly listeners. Launching a podcast is a great way to build a publishing platform that feeds all your business’ social media content needs while educating, informing & inspiring your audience plus creating an engaged community.

However, there are several myths surrounding podcast production that we want to dispel.

Read on below for part 1 of our ‘podcast myths proven wrong’.

1. You don’t need a studio

If you’re just beginning your podcasting journey & don’t have enough budget to hire a studio, don’t worry. Remote recordings over digital platforms often result in better sound quality anyway & they offer a more cost-effective route to begin releasing your first episodes than hiring a studio.

2. You don’t need to be media trained

Not a seasoned media professional? Don’t let this stop you. Your passion & knowledge for your topic area is enough to create an engaging podcast concept. Plus, by inviting guests to join you & preparing relevant interview questions for them, your episodes will feature different perspectives which resonate with your audience.

3. You don’t need a big budget

You only need to budget around £40 per month for all the software you need to maintain a podcast. For example we recommend hosting platform Buzzsprout, which helps make podcasting accessible to so many. You can start small & reap the rewards of creating plenty of social media content for little outlay.

4. You don’t need an expensive microphone

Similarly, there is no need to spend money on expensive equipment. The best microphone on the market is around £75: contact us to find out which one we recommend.

5. You don’t need endless hours to grow a podcast

Creating a podcast from scratch is a containable project & doesn’t need to drain your time. By learning how to edit your podcast episodes quickly & efficiently, as well as manage your workload, you’ll save yourself plenty of time while also creating high-quality content for your audience. 6. You don’t need editing experience

Never edited a podcast before? Don’t let this put you off. There are plenty of intuitive & easy to use podcast editing platforms available that are designed for non-technical experts. Think Canva for editing. Contact us to find out which platforms we recommend.
