The vital work of Hope & Homes For Children’s Ukraine programme
In 2022, as part of our pro-bono PR & communications work, FF&M supported leading jewellery editor Annabel Davidson’s ‘Jewels for Ukraine' campaign. Jewellers including Jessica McCormack created pieces with yellow and blue materials which were auctioned off to raise money for Hope & Homes For Children’s vital work in Ukraine’s Kyiv region. The campaign ultimately raised £26,185 for the charity to continue its work supporting traumatised children.
Hope & Homes For Children is a UK-registered charity founded in 1994 by Mark and Caroline Cook with the aim of eliminating the institutional care of children. Today, the charity operates across several Central and Eastern European and African countries to place vulnerable children with safe and loving families.
Hope & Homes For Children’s team in Ukraine has been delivering vital resources and support to children and their families displaced by the war. Since March 2023, the charity has reached 6,231 Ukrainian children and provided a team of 38 psychologists, social workers, art therapists and childcare experts. Together, this team is working to insulate children from the horrors of the war and provide a structure within which they and their families can rebuild their lives.
Typically, the charity’s mobile teams reach areas that have been liberated from Russian control and immediately provide first-response essentials including food, blankets and medicines. From there, Hope & Homes For Children’s long term psychological support then kicks in.
Hope & Homes for Children is aiming to expand its brilliant support services to 600 more families by the end of 2023.
